“One to watch . We’re predicting big things
in the year to come.”
“A fascinating debut. Her rootsy voice and folk melodies mesh with electronic sounds, warmly drawing you in.”
“A message for our times.”
“A moment of reflection.”
“A beautiful debut album from a rising Scottish music star. Superb, ethereal & distinctive.”
“Nicola [Meighan] loves this and so do we!”
“An exquisite debut. Her snapshot observations and sampled soundscapes, gleaned from the microcosms of city life breathe a chilling reality into these contemplative confessions. A rich and rewarding listening experience.”
“It takes some self-confidence for any artist to lay her voice so bare on a recorded track. It is dynamic, distinct and really really impressive.”
“Listening to The Möbius Kiss is a deliciously unnerving experience. The songwriting is superb. Catherine Rudie’s ability to create vivid moods from often sparse ingredients is a rare gift – she can make you feel as if you inhabit the dream-spaces of these songs, and then returns you to the real world with a bump. Often, it is necessary to stop and remind yourself that this is a debut album, such is the quality of these songs and the command that Rudie has over them. ”
“Unique, thought-provoking and uplifting - I would
agree with all of that. I have really really been enjoying this album.”
“An astonishingly good album.”

Catherine Rudie
Originally from Sutherland in the North Coast of Scotland, singer-songwriter Catherine Rudie lives and works between London & Glasgow. She is a past recipient of the Scottish Burns Song Award and in 2019 she was chosen by BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction as ‘One to Watch’.
Her debut album ‘The Mobius Kiss’ was created by combining modern experiences and experimental electronic instrumentation with Catherine’s musical background in the remote North Coast of Scotland, playing the bagpipes in a community pipe band and singing traditional acapella Gaelic songs at local events. These contrasts define her unique sound.
“By stitching it together - rural & urban, acoustic & electronic, tradition & invention - I would dearly hope that I’ve created something beautiful and spellbinding in the way that traditional Gaelic music can be, but also intriguing and weird – like the best contemporary artists I love.”
